The elected mayor of , Eduardo Pimentel (PSD), will have lawyer Jean Pierre Geremias de Jesus Neto as the city’s new Secretary of Education. He is the right-hand man of Renato Feder, current state secretary of São Paulo, under the Tarcísio de Freitas (Republican) administration.
The duo has already worked together in the government of São Paulo and also in the government of São Paulo.
Between 2019 and 2022, when Feder was Secretary of Education in the government (PSD), Neto assumed leadership positions in the same department. He served as legal advisor to the secretariat and then was superintendent of Paranaeducation between June 2021 until the end of the Feder administration.
At the beginning of 2023, when Feder accepted Tarcísio de Freitas’ invitation, Neto also gained a position in the São Paulo government, becoming president of the Foundation for the Development of Education.
During the period in which the two worked in Paraná, the secretariat formulated the pilot project that foresees the outsourcing of the administrative area of state schools, a model that the Ratinho Junior administration will follow from 2025 and that the São Paulo government will also use.
In Curitiba, in its government plan, it did not include the possibility of adopting the idea in the municipal network as well, and now denies that Neto’s appointment means a change in plans. According to the elected mayor, Neto will be focused on delivering the 36 daycare centers promised during the electoral campaign.
When announced, Neto was presented as a specialist in Tax and Environmental Law, with a master’s degree in Project Management from the Barcelona Business School. His passage through the governments of Paraná and São Paulo were also mentioned.
