Striker Gabriel Veron is unlikely to remain at Cruzeiro in 2025. This is because Porto, from Portugal, which holds the player’s economic rights, insists on selling him for 10 million euros (R$63 million at the current price). This is the amount set in the loan contract, closed at the beginning of the year.
HAS Itatiaiathe attacker’s manager, Fábio Mello, explained the mess. Initially, through a new loan contract. This possibility, however, has been rejected by Porto until now.
“Cruzeiro is interested in Veron staying for another period, but still thinks it is hasty to make the acquisition at the values that are stipulated. Porto, as it owns the operation, intends to do so only by sale”, he explained.
“We are in contact to see if we can equalize interests, but in any case I have already communicated to both Cruzeiro and Porto that I am looking for other options for Veron within what was agreed with Porto”, added the agent. .
Fábio Mello did not rule out the striker remaining at Cruzeiro, but indicated that, if that happens, it will be through a permanent transfer. THE Itatiaia found that, therefore, the miners have no interest in continuing with Veron for 2025.
“We will insist a little more next week, otherwise Veron will return to Porto. He has a contract there for another period and then he will be a Porto player again. Staying at Cruzeiro is not ruled out, if we manage to equalize in some way, but then it will be through transfer and not through a new loan”, he said.
“And if he doesn’t stay (at Cruzeiro), we have a lot of consultation, especially from the domestic market, after this great season that Veron had. The cards are on the table, everyone is aware of everything and we try to equalize interests”, he concluded.
Veron at Cruzeiro
Trained at Palmeiras, Veron was sold to Porto in July 2022 for around 10.5 million euros (around R$58 million at the price at the time). Unsuccessful in Portugal at the start of the season.
Wearing the Celeste shirt, the striker played 37 games, scored six goals and provided two assists. He ended the year as a starter in the team led by coach Fernando Diniz.
