Wasp nests are a candy that many households cannot do without at Christmas. No wonder, it has its own tradition and, above all, it is simply excellent. But sometimes its creator encounters a problem that can ruin everything. The nest does not fit and cannot be knocked out of the mold. But we can easily grow up to that too…

Are they wasp nests or bee hives? This is an age-old struggle between two groups of people. It looks like a historical beehive, but actually if we were to turn the sponge upside down, it would remotely resemble a wasp’s nest. Of course, it doesn’t matter, we all know that this is one of the most popular Christmas sweets that we want to take care of. Let’s try the method that will lead us to the best result. Thanks to these tips, the dough will never stick to the mold again.

It’s all in the batter

The basic problem why the dough sticks to the mold is its consistency. Even though we probably no longer use grandmother’s molds that could not be opened, the nest can also stick to the individual halves of the plastic mold and the work simply tears when opened. We really don’t want that. Therefore, as soon as we detect such a problem on the first piece, it is immediately time for a simple correction.

Add the biscuits

If the dough is too sticky, it is probably simply too wet. You may have added more rum to it, maybe even a little milk in the children’s version. Whatever it is, the fix will be easy. You probably have a few more cookies left – and now it’s time for them. Grind them and work them into the dough. It will be done in no time and everything will go like clockwork. Just be careful about the balance. Not too dry, and thus also crumbly, the dough will not be a win.

Pay attention to the temperature

There is also butter in the dough, and of course it softens as the temperature increases. Therefore, one of the possible variants of help is to postpone the shaping of the nests until later and you can store the dough in the refrigerator for a while.

After all, the butter and thus the entire semi-finished product will harden a little and the work will then go better by hand. Especially if you sprinkle the mold with icing sugar. In this case, of course, we will not use flour as in baking, but since we will sprinkle the nests with sugar later anyway, a little sweet white powder on their surface will not hurt. And they will come out of the molds pretty much on their own.

Work with ease

Even if you do everything exactly right, things can go wrong with overzealousness. Get rid of the feeling that you have to put pressure on the dough to ensure a really precise filling of the mold and thus shape even the smallest details it offers.

In this case, the dough will probably stick to its walls despite all preventive measures. It is not necessary – the cookies will be beautiful and delicious even with minor imperfections, after all, no one and nothing is quite perfect. The main thing is to be able to turn this goodness out of the mold without any tearing problems. It will become the decoration of the Christmas table anyway, you can bet on it – rum, for example.
