If we want our windows to be sparkling clean and streak-free after washing, we must use appropriate cleaning products. In this case, home remedies are the best way to clean your windows for the holidays. Here’s what you should use when washing windows:
- Water and lemon juice – prepare a solution from 3 liters of water and 4 tablespoons of lemon juice. We spread this mixture on the window using an atomizer and wash the windows in circular motions. Thanks to this product, there will be no streaks on the windows.
- Glycerine – just pour a few teaspoons of pharmaceutical glycerin into a bowl of water. It costs little and can be purchased at any pharmacy, and thanks to it we can clean the windows in just a few minutes, leaving no streaks on them. What’s more, glycerin also adds shine, so it will make them shine beautifully.
- Vinegar – this is one of the most popular methods. We just need to mix vinegar with water in a 1:5 ratio, then spray the prepared mixture on the windows and wipe them dry. You don’t have to worry about the unpleasant aroma of vinegar, because it dissipates quite quickly and after a while it will no longer be a problem. However, if the smell is still difficult for us to bear, we can add the selected fragrance extract to the solution.

Contrary to appearances, it is a bad idea to wash windows on a sunny day, because the rays quickly dry the washed windows and cause streaks to appear on them. So it’s best to choose a cloudy but not rainy day.
However, before we move on to cleaning the windows themselves, we must first ensure the cleanliness of the frames, which are also full of dirt. In the case of PVC windows, simply wipe them with a damp cloth. However, if our frames are wooden, we must pay attention to the composition of the cleaning agent and make sure it does not contain ammonia, which negatively affects the condition of the wood.
Moving on to washing windows, we need to know how to do it so as not to leave streaks. Remember to spread the detergent in circular motions – from the top to the bottom of the window. However, when wiping them, we do it the other way around, i.e. from the bottom up. This will prevent unsightly stains from occurring.
We should also use appropriate cloths for washing. Incorrect products could leave fibers on the windows. It is best to use microfiber or cotton cloths.
