FIFA (International Football Federation) will announce this Tuesday (17), in a ceremony in Doha, Qatar, the winners of The Best award.
The event will be broadcast live on the website of football’s governing body, Fifa.com.
In the men’s category, Brazilian Vinicius Junior, current Champions League champion with Real Madrid, is one of the favorites. Among his competitors is the Spaniard Rodri, European Championship champion for Spain and winner of the Ballon d’Or, from France Football magazine, in November.
Of the 11 nominees, more than half are Real Madrid players — Carvajal, Valverde, Bellingham, Kroos and Vini, in addition to Mbappé, who played the first part of the season for Paris Saint-Germain.
Argentine star Lionel Messi, from Inter Miami, and Lamine Tamal, from Barcelona, are also on the list.
Among women, 16 players are competing for the trophy, although the favorite is Spanish Aitana Bonmatí, winner of the last Ballon d’Or and The Best in 2023.
The best coaches in men’s and women’s football will also be awarded, as well as the best goalkeeper and the best goalkeeper.
The winners of the Marta and Puskás awards for the best goals of the year in women’s and men’s football, respectively, will also be announced.
All winners will be announced at an event in Doha, on the eve of the Intercontinental Cup final, between Real Madrid and Pachuca.
The winners are named after a vote involving fans, media representatives and coaches and captains of national teams from around the world.
