The minister Luiz Fuxfrom the Federal Supreme Court (STF), gave, last Friday (13), a self-defense and jiu-jitsu seminar to police officers from the Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope) and young people from the Maré Top Team social project, from Complexo da Maré, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ).

A red-and-white belt, Fux has been practicing the “gentle art” for 40 years.

The 71-year-old minister received the red-and-white belt in 2019, in Manaus, Amazonas. Graduation in the martial art is achieved after seven years of choral belt, the penultimate step towards becoming a jiu-jitsu grandmaster.

“Jiu-jitsu today has worldwide recognition precisely for its discipline and its aspect of educating young people. How many young people today are dedicated to jiu jítsu, how many teachers, who came out of a very difficult situation, and are now teaching in foreign countries. Jiu-jtsu is a unique educational instrument”, said Fux to the Legião da Boa Vontade (LBV), who attended the “class”.
