()’s son “04” was baptized this Sunday (15) at the Sara Nossa Terra church in Balneário Camboriú (SC), where he was elected councilor this year.
Jair Renan Bolsonaro thus becomes the former president’s fourth son, joining his brothers Flávio, Eduardo and Laura Bolsonaro. Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro is also a believer.
Bolsonaro continues to declare himself Catholic. But the mere fact of going through evangelical baptism does not mean automatic conversion — the person needs to recognize themselves as such.
That’s what Jair Renan did. On a local beach, a pastor asked him if he repented of all his sins and accepted Jesus as his “only Lord and savior.” Yes to everything.
The elected councilor then had his head submerged in the sea. On Instagram, he declared: “Today I decided to be born again, Jesus is the true savior, thank you very much my father.”
He also reproduced an excerpt from the Gospel of Matthew in which Jesus instructs his apostles to evangelize the Earth, baptizing “disciples of all nations” in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Jair Renan wore the “I decided” t-shirt, standardized by Sara Nossa Terra, a church led by one of the evangelical leaders who sided with his father in the elections, Bishop Robson Rodovalho.
Rodovalho says that “baptism is not something hasty”, that is, “the person can reflect and see if this is the path they want to walk”.
In January, the senator posted a photo of the day he and his wife, Fernanda, took what he called “another turn towards the right side of life”: they allowed themselves to be baptized at the Comunidade das Nações Church, in Brasília.
The deputy (PL) got married in 2019 in a ceremony led by the Baptist pastor Pedrão, from Rio.
The youngest daughter’s experience was shared by her father in 2020: “Laura’s baptism. Attitude Baptist Church. God bless her.” It is the same church as her mother, who migrated to it after attending the Assembly of God Vitória em Cristo, led by pastor Silas Malafaia.
