Pour 1 measuring cup into the washing machine and set the curtains to wash, and they will be snow-white for Christmas
Pre-Christmas cleaning is underway in many Polish homes. We want our apartment to be literally dazzling with cleanliness, so we clean almost every corner of it. Of course, one of the stages of this pre-Christmas cleaning is washing the windows and curtains, which will then be hung on the curtain rods. And of course, white curtains look beautiful, provided they retain their original color. Unfortunately, many housewives know this problem very well when their curtains turn gray and regular washing in the washing machine does not bring the expected effect. The culprit is dust, dirt and even smog that settles on the fabric. Therefore, if you want to have some for Christmas, try this home method of washing them in the washing machine using baking soda. Pour one measure of baking soda into the detergent drawer, add washing powder and set the curtains to wash. After removing from the drum, they will be perfectly clean and smelling fresh. Well, baking soda is known for its whitening properties on fabrics, but it is safe for them. What’s more, it allows you to remove any unpleasant odors from the material.
How to whiten curtains? Home remedies
Of course, apart from the one described above, there are several other proven methods that will help us whiten gray curtains. Sometimes the fabric is so dirty that it needs to be soaked before wearing. To do this, pour warm water into a bowl or bathtub, pour in a package of citric acid and add a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Immerse your curtains and leave for about 30 minutes. After this time, wash them in the washing machine. You can also use egg shells for washing. Just crush the shells of 3 eggs and place them in a cotton or linen bag. Put it tightly closed into the washing machine drum and wash the curtains as usual – with the addition of detergents. They will be snow-white when taken out.
