Parish priest’s herring is a simple dish that requires only a few ingredients. However, they combine in such a great way that it creates a distinctive dish perfect for the holiday table. Therefore To prepare the parish priest’s herring, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 5 herring sheets a la matias
  • A jar of pickled mushrooms (330 ml)
  • 1 medium onion (white or red)
  • Parsley
  • ¼ cup of vegetable oil
  • Pepper and salt to taste
  • Optional: 5 tablespoons of vinegar

Preparation method:

Preparations start by soaking the herrings in cold water for about 2-3 hoursreplacing the water every hour in the meantime. Then Drain the fillets and cut them into 2-3 cm long pieces. Also cut the mushrooms into cubes and the onion into slices, and chop the parsley finely.
