The minister (Casa Civil) travels to São Paulo this Monday afternoon (15) to meet the president (), who was discharged from hospital on Sunday.
The head of the Civil House is the second minister to meet Lula, since he had to undergo emergency head surgery due to a hemorrhage. Fernando Haddad (Fazenda) was at the president’s house in São Paulo in the morning.
“Minister Rui Costa must take off for São Paulo before 1 pm, this Monday, to meet President Lula. He returns to Brasília later today. The time of return will depend on the progress of the agenda in the capital of São Paulo”, says a note from the Civil House.
Costa is expected to discuss important government issues with Lula this week. How to Sheet showed last week, ministers Rui Costa, Fernando Haddad, Jorge Messias (AGU) and Alexandre Padilha (Institutional Relations) took the lead in negotiations to unlock the amendment and move forward with the spending package.
Upon leaving Lula’s house, Haddad told journalists that the president made an appeal for the fiscal measures being analyzed in Congress not to be dehydrated.
Throughout this Tuesday (10), members of the government said that Lula’s emergency surgery and his removal from Brasília do not affect the progress of the Executive’s priority proposals.
According to assistants, Lula did what he could have done by committing to paying for the amendments and asking for effort to vote on the package, in a meeting with the presidents of the Chamber, (-AL), and of, (PSD-MG).
The meeting took place on Monday afternoon (9) and Lula even left there complaining of a headache and feeling unwell to undergo the examination, which would show the cerebral hemorrhage. The president had to carry out an emergency procedure in São Paulo.
