The governor of São Paulo, (Republicans), stated this Sunday (15) that he intends to run for re-election in 2026, leaving aside, at least for now, any plans to reach the Presidency of the Republic.

“What is my option, what is my path in ’26? It’s to stay in São Paulo,” he said during an interview with Band’s Canal Livre program. Much of its surroundings.

“I am very loyal to those who elected me. I had great appreciation from the population of São Paulo who welcomed me, and we have very interesting projects to deliver in 28, 29, 30. What motivates me to stay in São Paulo ?The delivery of these projects”, said the governor.

Tarcísio made a point of saying, however, that his focus on the state will not prevent him from acting in favor of his political group at the federal level.

“We have a great leadership on the right, which is the [Jair] Bolsonaro [PL]and I understand that the viable candidate will be Bolsonaro himself or whoever he anoints.”

The governor also stated that adverse situations have already been reversed several times in the country. Bolsonaro, currently ineligible, as part of a coup plot to prevent Lula (PT) from taking office.

On Saturday (14), Braga Netto, retired general and former Bolsonaro minister, in an action involving the investigation into the 2022 coup d’état attempt.

“For me, Bolsonaro continues to be a great actor on the right, and it will be in the 26 election, regardless of anything. And what are we going to do here? I’m going to seek re-election and I’m going to work so that the state of São Paulo can deliver the maximum for this candidate who represents the center-right field in 26.”

For the governor, there is no point in the right isolating itself and losing. The best option, he says, is to bring the center closer and reap victories, as, in his view, occurred in this year’s municipal dispute and in the National Congress debates.

When mentioning mistakes made in the Bolsonaro government, which led him to lose to Lula, Tarcísio says that some attitudes alienated the center, such as the stance on vaccines and the stress on institutions.
