“The strikes against IS leaders, fighters and camps were carried out as part of an ongoing mission to disrupt, dismantle and defeat IS,” the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) said on social networks. According to the American command, the goal of the operation is prevent the “terrorist group from carrying out external operations and ensure that IS could not regroup in areas of central Syria”.
