Holidays are a time of preparation, we prepare tasty dishes and decorate the house with various decorations. A Christmas wreath is an important element of interior design.
This type of decoration using spruce branches looks beautiful and is easy to make. We can easily make this wreath if we have access to several larger Christmas tree branches, e.g. from the garden. To make this type of wreath you will need:
- a few larger Christmas tree branches, e.g. pine, spruce or fir,
- hot glue,
- Styrofoam ring for the wreath (preferably with a diameter of approx. 30-35 cm),
- wide green satin ribbon,
- velvet ribbon in any color,
- a dozen cones,
- any artificial decorative twigs, e.g. mistletoe.
First, we take a wreath ring and wrap it with a ribbon, this will avoid any gaps in the white Styrofoam.we can also paint the ring green. We cut the branches of the Christmas tree so that individual ones are no more than a dozen or so cm long. Then we glue individual twigs using hot glue. It is important to place them in one direction.
After covering the entire ring with twigs, it’s time to decorate the wreath. It is worth placing decorations in one lower corner. This is where our imagination can run wild. Depending on your preferences, you can place pine cones and decorative twigs there. There should be fewer cones than twigs and they should be placed at the very bottom. We glue, for example, mistletoe a little higher – we glue everything with hot glue. If we have other decorations at home, e.g. small baubles, we can also place them on the wreath.
Finally, add a velvet ribbon to the decorative branches – it is best to tie one or two bows. The last step is to tie a ribbon so that you can hang the wreath on the door. This type of decoration can be made in approximately 1-2 hours.

What to do if we don’t have Christmas tree branches? We can easily find equally beautiful inspirations for wreaths. You can also make this type of decorations with your child or give it to a loved one. Wreath without Christmas trees made of the following items:
- a sytopian ring with a diameter of approx. 30-35 cm or cardboard from which we will cut a circle,
- paper and tape,
- a larger skein of white, thick yarn,
- wide gold or green ribbon,
- little bell,
- narrow wire,
- glue,
- small battery-powered lights (during the holidays they are available in various stores, e.g. Pepco),
- cones,
- any decorations, e.g. small houses and Christmas trees.
If we cut a ring out of cardboard, we have to cover it with cards – We roll the sheets of paper and use tape to place them on the cardboard to make the circle larger. We can also use a ready-made Styrofoam ring. Then we wrap the wreath with yarn, do it carefully and place the string elements close to each other so that the ring is not visible. Secure the end of the yarn at the top (in the place where the wreath will be attached). We mask the end with a wide ribbon — we wrap it around the ring. At this point we also add a ribbon bow, secure it with a wire and attach it to the wreath; a bell can be placed at the end of the wire.
The next step is to illuminate the wreath, for this purpose it is worth using small battery-powered lights, e.g. stars, reindeer or others. We wrap them around the wreath and secure the end with the batteries at the back with wire or glue. The next step is to additionally decorate the wreath. Cones, houses and Christmas trees will work for this purpose and can be placed in any configuration.
