“Proper nutrition is closely related to the state of your body. The older he is, the more he needs a balanced diet with proteins, complex carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, fats and minerals. If you don’t give it to him and “dope” him only with empty calories, you will age faster,” warns nutritionist Minacshi Pettukola, who specializes in Indian medicine – Ayurveda. White bread
Wheat bread plays a leading role in Czech households. Mainly classic bread and rolls, which are eaten in large quantities for breakfast and dinner. And no wonder, they are cheap and filling. “But the problem is their nutritional value,” says the expert, adding that white bread is made from refined cereals that have a high glycemic index.
What does this mean? Simply put, such foods raise blood sugar. With frequent consumption of rolls, glycation occurs – that is, the creation of harmful molecules that cause skin inflammation and accelerate skin aging.
Solution: “Try to replace classic white bread with a more nutritious variant. Sourdough bread is good, for example. It is made from fermented grains, which are more digestible and also contain important minerals such as iron, zinc and magnesium,” says the nutritionist. Sourdough bread is also tasty, with a crispy crust and you can enjoy it both sweet and salty.
Chips, French fries and other snacks
When you’re twenty and you eat a cone of fries, nothing happens. At fifty, however, you will remember this experience for a longer time, because the body will digest such a “calorie bomb” for longer, and in addition, it will take away a souvenir in the form of excessive blankets. And not only that.
“Fried foods contain trans fats, which contribute to inflammation and so-called oxidative stress, which creates an excess of harmful cells in the body and leads to premature aging of the skin,” warns Minacshi Pettukola.
Solution: “Sweet potato chips are a healthier option. Simply drizzle them with oil, soy sauce and bake. If you don’t have sweet potatoes on hand, use celery, carrots or parsley,” recommends the expert.
Sausages
Ham, sausages, English bacon or other “yummies” may make your work easier with dinner, but they have another dark side – they contain a lot of salt, saturated fat and a lot of carcinogenic substances. “In addition, the body digests them very poorly,” warns the nutrition guru and points out, for example, the frequent combination of Czech menus, which includes charcuterie and white bread. It’s no wonder that after such a double load, your body takes a real “tafka” and ages faster.
The solution: “Go for fresh meat that can be prepared quickly, such as chicken breast. You can also choose from products with a higher proportion of muscle, from 80-97%,” advises the expert. Pay particular attention to delicacies that have the abbreviation SOM in the composition description – it is a separate ingredient that has nothing to do with meat!
