The Federal Justice Inspector, who is also the vice-president of the (Superior Court of Justice), ordered the removal of the armored car and personal security of the retired federal judge Marcelo Bretas, who was responsible for the processes in Rio de Janeiro.
The basis for the determination is that Bretas signed a term of commitment, common in this type of situation, not to expose himself. However, the dismissed judge had been publishing photos on his social networks of trips to the football stadium, gym, and lectures he would participate in.
Salomão’s decision was in accordance with a statement from , which considered the risk to Bretas’ safety to be low, as he is not carrying out his duties as a magistrate.
The process is confidential, and the information was initially published on the website and confirmed by Sheet.
The analysis of the armored car and the escort of Bretas and other magistrates began a few months ago, when the internal affairs department began monitoring these situations in federal courts to find out whether there was excess or abuse.
In a note published on his social networks, Bretas stated that “it is not true that only now the Federal Court has stopped taking care of my personal safety.” “Since 11/04/24 the TRF-2 [Tribunal Regional Federal da 2ª Região, sediado no Rio] understood it to be unnecessary”, he stated.
“Finally, I note that the irresponsible leak of this information, which should be confidential, is just another attempt to punish a Judge who dared to exercise his role independently.”
Bretas was removed from his position in February last year by the (National Council of Justice), and faces administrative disciplinary proceedings.
