Intensive shelling targeted military facilities in the coastal region of Tartous between Sunday and Monday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced.
“Israeli warplanes launched strikes” at various facilities, including specifically air defense units and “surface-to-surface missile depots,” according to the non-governmental organization based on a wide network of sources in Syria.
This source spoke of the “heaviest shelling since 2012” in the coastal area of Tartous, where Russia’s strategically important naval base is located. The Israeli strikes caused an explosion in one of the ammunition depots.
