This Tuesday, the motion of censure of the Regional Government of Madeira, led by Miguel Albuquerque, was approved. THE approval implies the fall, for the first time, of a regional executive based on this type of initiative.

A motion of censure against the Madeiran government, led by Miguel Albuquerque, was voted favorably in the Madeira parliament this Tuesday.

Now it’s official. The XV Government of Madeira fell, after the motion of censure presented by Chega was approved in the island parliament.

The document received votes in favor from the entire opposition – PS, JPP, Chega, IL and PAN, which together bring together 26 elected representatives, thus exceeding the 24 required for an absolute majority -, while the PSD and CDS-PP (which has a parliamentary agreement with the Social Democrats) voted against.

The current executive will, however, remain in office until a new team is in place.

On November 6, the day the motion was delivered, Chega justified the initiative with the legal proceedings that placed the president of the executive and four regional secretaries under suspicion, who were made defendants in different cases.
