As of this Monday (16), the (Supreme Federal Court) starts using a generative system. The tool can be used to prepare summaries of votes, reports in appeal processes and carry out the first analysis of complaints, used to question non-compliance with court precedents by lower instances.

The idea is to unburden the court and speed up the analysis of cases. When launching the tool, the president of the court, , cited data from the CNJ (National Council of Justice) report according to which the year 2023 ended with 83.8 million cases in progress.

“If we do not take help from , we will not be able to carry out judicial proceedings with the necessary serenity”, said the minister.

The program, called Maria, Support Module for Writing with AI, inaugurates the use of this type of technology, which creates new content such as texts, images, videos, music and audio from pre-existing data.

“Maria represents a new paradigm of how artificial intelligence can assist human work without ever replacing it. This applies to all judges,” said Barroso.

The court also uses the VictorIA systems (implemented last year) to identify cases on the same subject and group them automatically, and RAFA 2030, which supports the classification of actions according to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
