The rapporteur for the Tax Reform in the Chamber, deputy Reginaldo Lopes (PT-SP), reinserted sugary drinks on the list of items subject to the Selective Tax (IS).

Known as the “sin tax”, this tax will be applied to products considered harmful to health or the environment.

Sugary drinks had been excluded from this category during the Senate process, but now they are once again the target of the taxation proposed in the reform.
