Some alcoholic drinks belong to the winter period, which we usually don’t even remember in the summer. In addition to mulled wine, punch, or grog, it is also eggnog. We like to enjoy it especially at Christmas, so it’s time to prepare it – just stock up. It will only be a little while…
Do you feel it too? Soft creamy consistency, sweet balanced taste, aroma of vanilla… Egg cognac is exactly that and much more, which we can either buy in a store or prepare it easily and even in a few minutes at home. You will be able to do it and you will also know exactly its composition, which is an increasingly desirable currency for any food or drink.
It’s nothing complicated – try scrambled eggs according to the instructions on the YouTube channel

Condensed milk and a few other ingredients
So what do we need to get to prepare egg cognac? We will need one can of condensed milk, 1/4 liter of whole milk, 150 grams of powdered sugar and a spoonful of vanilla sugar, and of course the egg yolks, without which this drink is indispensable.
The indicated amount will be the yolks of four eggs. Egg cognac also includes a pinch of salt. What would eggnog be without rum? So don’t forget about a quarter liter of this alcohol. However, if you prefer to prepare a children’s version, simply omit the rum.
Beat and mix
Preparing the eggnog, as already mentioned, will not take more than a few minutes of your pre-Christmas time. First, you will need to beat the egg yolks with the loose ingredients – i.e. with sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt. As soon as everything is perfectly prepared, you can start adding the liquid ingredients, i.e. both condensed and whole milk. Beat everything again until perfectly combined.
Changes according to your own imagination
Done? If you count on the fact that you will also please the children with the egg, now is the right time to separate part of the future drink and add rum to the rest in the amount according to your own discretion and taste. After all, it also controls any other flavors that you can use to make the liqueur special. It can be chocolate, strong coffee, but also lemon or orange peel. You always get a different but still delicious Advent addition to the quiet long evenings.
Pay attention to the raw materials
Remember that you are adding raw eggs to the scrambled eggs. Therefore, pay attention to their quality and obvious health safety. Even if the risk of the dreaded salmonella or other infections is rather minimal to negligible, the lesson here is that we should “never say never”, i.e. we should not be content with stating that the eggs will probably be harmless.
Certainty is certainty…
Verified and controlled farms should be a guarantee in this regard, however, only possible pasteurization will bring certainty. How about her? A five-minute heating to 70°C, followed by cooling of the liquor, will suffice. Any germs will be destroyed and you can be sure that the liquor is safe.
We recommend not to underestimate this step, especially in the case of a non-alcoholic version for children or sick people. Another condition that is important to observe is keeping the finished drink in the fridge. It can last up to a week in the fridge, but the children’s, i.e. non-alcoholic version, is more prone to spoilage more quickly.
