The Chamber of Deputies rejected an urgent request for the processing of the project that provides for the tax treatment applicable to losses incurred when receiving credits arising from the activities of financial institutions and other institutions authorized to operate by the Central Bank (BC).
The project is authored by the government leader in the Chamber, José Guimarães (PT-CE).
According to the justification, the objective of the proposal is to “standardize accounting and tax criteria” in the deductibility rules for losses incurred when receiving credits.

The text would increase federal government revenue by R$16 billion in 2025.
257 votes in favor were needed for the urgency request to be approved. However, in this Tuesday’s session (17), only 244 deputies voted for urgency, while 115 were against it.
