The fruit’s skin is greenish and may be smooth or have distinct protrusions with a structure that is often compared to reptilian or dragon scales. The flesh of cherimoya is white and there are also black seeds inside, which are not suitable for eating. This “paradise fruit” contains a lot of valuable nutritional values, so it is worth reaching for cherimoya when you see it on the store shelf.
Custard apple, as cherimoya is sometimes called, is a fruit that contains many health-promoting ingredients. It is a great source of potassium, which, among other things, helps regulate blood pressure. Its composition also includes: valuable antioxidants, which support the body’s fight against the harmful effects of free radicals and reduce the negative effects of oxidative stress. Additionally, they have anti-cancer properties and reduce inflammation.

It is worth remembering that Peruvian grapefruit cannot stay on the kitchen counter for long. After purchasing it, if possible, eat it as soon as possible because it is a quickly ripening fruit. When ready to eat, the cherry will have firm, green skin with light brown discolorations that bends slightly under finger pressure. Cut the washed cherimoya in half and then eat the pulp with a spoon. The seeds and peel of the fruit are not suitable for consumption. What does cherimoya taste like? It has a delicate, sweet, slightly reminiscent taste a combination of banana, pear and pineapple.
