The British police can confiscate more than two million pounds that influencer Andrew Tate, known for his misogynistic statements, and his brother Tristan have in their temporarily frozen accounts. Judge Paul Goldspring of the London Westminster Magistrate’s Court decided on this in his judgment delivered on Wednesday, TASR informs based on a report by the DPA agency.
Police in Devon and Cornwall have accused the Tate brothers of failed to pay income taxes totaling £21 million (almost €25 million), which they had in the years 2014 – 2022 from online sales of products.
The brothers had a large number of bank accounts in the UK, which they used to legalize their income. In the meantime, seven of them were frozen. Part of the funds were stored in cryptocurrency in the name of a woman, identified only by the initials J, who played no role in the Tate’s business.
Judge Paul Goldspring stated in his verdict that this the complex financial structure was clearly built to avoid paying taxes. They are not allowed to leave Romania until the end of the procedural acts. Subsequently, they are expected to be extradited to Great Britain.
