A fire broke out in an oil refinery in the city of Novoshakhtinsk in the Rostov Region in the south of the European part of Russia as a result of an attack by Ukrainian drones. This was reported by the Rostov channel on the Telegram platform, which also published videos of the fire shot by local residents, the British station BBC reported.

The extent of damage to the refinery is not yet known. The Russian authorities and the military have not yet commented on the raid. Russian monitoring and news channels on the Telegram platform on Thursday night reported air defense fire on dozens of Ukrainian drones in the Novoshachtinsk, Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, and Yejsk regions in the Krasnodar region, where the air base is also located. Drone flights were also reported over the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia.

The Novoshakhtin oil refinery is the only oil processing plant in the Rostov region that has been attacked by Ukrainian drones at least three times this year: in March, June and September of this year. The governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, announced that seven drones were shot down over the region.
