Grandma puts them in pots. Thanks to this, the plants grow like crazy

The head of a match consists of sulfur, which has fungicidal and insect repellent properties. Additionally, it contains phosphorus and magnesium – important elements supporting plant growth and condition. When combined with potassium, which is also found in matches, it creates and an energy injection for plantsproviding them with:

  • healthy root development – phosphorus and magnesium influence the development of the root system, which allows the plant to better absorb water and nutrients from the soil,
  • chlorophyll production – thanks to sulfur and magnesium, plants are intensely green, they convert light into energy better and are more resistant to deficiencies,
  • insect repellent – sulfur acts as a natural repellent, helping to protect plants from pests,
  • prevention of fungal and bacterial diseases – sulfur has antiseptic properties, which limits the development of harmful microorganisms in the soil.

How to use ? Below you will find detailed instructions on how to use matches in your home cultivation.

Step 1: Choose the right amount of matches

For one medium-sized pot (about 20 cm in diameter) you need 4 to 6 matches. For larger pots, the amount can be increased, but do not overdo it – excess sulfur can disturb the balance of the soil.

Step 2: Insert the matches into the soil

Place the matches head down at a depth of about 1-2 cm. Place them evenly around the perimeter of the pot, avoiding direct contact with the roots.

Step 3: Water the plants

After inserting the matches, water the plant as usual. The water will slowly dissolve the substances contained in the match heads, releasing nutrients into the soil.

Step 4: Observe the effects

The first effects should be visible after 2-3 weeks. The plant will look more lush and its leaves will become intensely green.

Not every plant requires the same approach. Which species respond particularly well to ? Certainly potted varieties such as ficuses, monsters, dragons. Besides, herbs – basil, mint or oregano they become more aromatic and lush. Flowers blooming successfully, too orchids, geraniums and African violets and popular species grown on balconies (begonias, petunias and surfias).

The matches do not contain chemical additives harmful to the environment, so they are ecological. Also important is their low price (a pack of matches costs pennies, and its effect may exceed that of expensive fertilizers) and ease of use (it does not require specialized knowledge or additional tools).

Even though applying matches is safe, you should be careful not to overdo it. Apply the treatment no more than once a quarter and place the matches carefully, keeping a distance from the roots.
