On Thursday, a Romanian court accepted the appeal of influencer Andrew Tate and returned his case back to the prosecutor’s office. Together with their brother Tristan, they are accused of creating an organized crime network and exploiting people. TASR informs about it according to the AFP agency.
According to prosecutors, Andrew Tate (38), his brother (36) and two women formed a criminal organization and sexually exploited several victims. A Romanian court found “irregularities” in the indictment in mid-November and ordered prosecutors to correct them. On Thursday, the Court of Appeal in Bucharest decided to “return to the prosecutor’s office… the case in which the indictment was filed and the accused were sent to trial.” it is stated in the statement.
“They threw me in jail, took my money, my cars and every bit of my freedom. They made me the worst enemy on the streets, smeared my name with accusations of the lowest and most despicable acts,” said Andrew Tate in the first reaction.
His brother Tristan said that “the decision to dismiss the prosecution’s case underscores the fundamental flaws in the evidence presented.” The Tate brothers are not allowed to leave Romania until the end of the trial. Subsequently, they are expected to be extradited to Great Britain. There, they face charges of rape and assault in separate cases and have also been charged with tax evasion.
Earlier this week, the British police succeeded in a separate case against them. According to the judge, the complicated system of accounts in the United Kingdom clearly served to avoid paying taxes. The police can therefore seize more than £2 million from them to settle unpaid taxes.
Former kickboxer and successful influencer Andrew Tate is known for his misogynistic views prohibited access to social networks Tiktok, Facebook and YouTube. In 2016, he was kicked out of the British reality show “Big Brother” after a video of him attacking a woman emerged.
He still has an active account “Cobratate” on platform X, where he after Elon Musk became the head of the company, a similar ban was lifted. He now has around 10.4 million followers there.
