Mayor of Belo Horizonte presents with diarrhea and dehydration; This is the 3rd hospitalization in less than 1 month
The mayor of Belo Horizonte, (PSD), 77 years old, was admitted again on Thursday (Dec 19, 2024) at Mater Dei Hospital, in the capital of Minas Gerais. According to the medical report, the politician is suffering from diarrhea and dehydration. The hospital reported that it is carrying out tests.
The hospitalization takes place 4 days after the mayor was discharged. He had been in the health unit with pneumonia and sinusitis and left Mater Dei on December 15th.
The mayor did not attend the diploma ceremony of the politicians elected in 2024 to the City Council and city hall of Belo Horizonte, held on Wednesday (Dec 18). When speaking to journalists, the elected vice-mayor, (União Brasil), said that he was at home recovering.
A few days before being hospitalized for pneumonia and sinusitis, Noman had undergone treatment for pain in his legs, caused by the effects of cancer treatment, which ended in October. The mayor had left the hospital on November 28th.
Belo Horizonte elected among the capitals in the 2024 municipal elections. At 77 years old, Fuad with 53.73% of the votes in the 2nd round. There will be 81 at the end of 2028, when the term ends.
Fuad Noman is an economist and writer. He was Finance Secretary during the first term of the PSDB government in Minas Gerais. He also headed the Department of Transport and Public Works in Tucano’s 2nd term. He commanded Gasmig (Companhia de Gás de Minas Gerais) from 2011 to 2012.
He joined the PSD in 2020. In his first electoral contest, he was elected vice-mayor of Belo Horizonte on the Kalil ticket, in 2020.
