O director James Gunn — responsible for the new Superman film — said he explored one side of the superhero that is not normally put on the big screenbut without leaving out the traditional.
“From the beginning, we’re seeing a side of Superman that’s a little different than what we normally see on screen. […] This film, ultimately, is not about power. This film is about a man, and who he is as a person,” he said at the event in Las Vegas this Thursday (19).
He commented that, when recreating the superhero’s story, he encountered more difficulties than when producing “Guardians of the Galaxy”, because they were unknown characters.
“[O Superman] is one of the most famous characters in the world, and everyone thinks they know what he should be like, what his costume should look like, what his moral values should be,” said James Gunn.
The production “will focus on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing,” according to the studio’s announcement. The film will be the first film in the new (DCU).
The superhero will be played by (“The Politician”). Names like (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), (“The Great”), Skyler Gisondo (“Licorice Pizza”) and more make up the cast.
“Superman” is scheduled to debut in theaters on July 10, 2025.
