Smears, small scratches and a matte surface – this is what your floors look like? It’s time to return them to their former glory for the upcoming holidays without having to spend a fortune on chemical products from the store. Just use… linseed oil, which will work wonders on both wood and panels.

Why is it worth cleaning floors with linseed oil?

Many people use linseed oil in the kitchen. Few people know that it can be an effective means of cleaning floors. It has been used since ancient times to impregnate wood, so it is excellent for wooden surfaces, but also for laminate panels and vinyl floors.

This natural product penetrates the structure of the wood and nourishes it from the inside. That’s why the floor shines. In addition, it creates a fine layer on its surface that protects against dust, moisture and scratches.

It is also worth mentioning that linseed oil is completely safe for household members because it does not contain harmful chemicals. Moreover, it does not pose a threat to the environment.

How to wash floors with linseed oil?

  • For washing surfaces with linseed oil simply add 6 drops of this preparation to a bucket of warm water. Additionally, we can add a little lemon juice, which disinfects and adds a fresh scent.
  • Dip a mop or soft cloth in this mixture, squeeze out the excess water and start washing gently.
  • Then wipe the floor with a dry microfiber cloth – this is necessary, because only then will the surface shine and be evenly covered with a protective layer.

We recommend washing the floors once a week. After just a few uses, you will notice an improvement in their appearance, as well as a lack of dust for a longer period of time.

However, we cannot use this method on painted surfaces. Oily products are not good for their care.

Not just linseed oil. Other home methods of cleaning floors

  • Instead of linseed oil, we can also use a few drops of coconut oil on wooden floors.

Black tea is also perfect, it refreshes and brightens the surfaces.

  • We need about 3-5 bags of black tea for 1 liter of water.
  • When cleaning tiles, in this case, chemical agents should be replaced with vinegar mixed with water in a ratio of 1:4 (1 part vinegar and 4 parts water). This mixture quickly removes dirt, deposits and even greasy stains. Baking soda has a similar effect.
