Livre asks the President of the Republic for a hearing on the operation in Martim Moniz

Rui Tavares considers “serious from the point of view of the rule of law” the PSP operation in Martim Moniz this Thursday.

O will request an audience with the President of the Republic following the police operation in Martim Moniz, which he classified as “serious from the point of view of the rule of law”, spokesman Rui Tavares announced today.

Speaking to journalists in Parliament, Rui Tavares stated that in Lisbon, represents a “turn in this Government’s strategy” which, he said, follows “an agenda dictated by the extreme right and not by the mandate it received from the Portuguese”.

Rui Tavares considered that, regarding Thursday’s police operation“absolutely nothing is clarified” regarding, for example, the compliance with security and investigation criteria.

“All of this is serious from the point of view of the rule of law, but also serious from the point of view of the political alliances that support the Government. If there is a political shift of this magnitude, we believe it is appropriate to discuss it with the President of the Republic and understand how he sees this evolution of the national political framework”, said the leader of Livre.

Rui Tavares lamented the proposals approved Thursday in plenary to limit migrants’ access to the SNSpointing to the measures as examples of the influence of the extreme right on the PSDB’s decisions.

Tavares highlighted that this hearing “it doesn’t help that he has exactly the same opinions” that the Free but rather so that the party can communicate its vision and, from there, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa “does his reading”.

PAN criticizes the “disproportionality of means”

O through spokesperson Inês de Sousa Real, lamented what he said was the “disproportionality of means” in this police operation in a case in which, he said, “there was no evidence” that would justify the scale of the intervention.

For Inês de Sousa Real, the PSD “in some way seeks to pursue an anti-human rights agenda” that “will be costly” to the social democrats” for moving away from constitutional values, the principle of proportionality and an integration policy of prevention.

“It will now be up to the Minister of Internal Administration to clarify here in the Assembly of the Republic why this type of intervention is taking place. We cannot be following a clearly disintegrative agenda to justify what this type of intervention could be”, he said, announcing that PAN will monitor all requests for a hearing from Margarida Blasco.

Inês de Sousa Real also considered that the President of the Republic has already left a “message” to the Government by calling for compliance with constitutional rules, and that only “those who don’t want to” will not understand this message.
