Brazilian Marta returned to the Top 100 of the British newspaper The Guardian after three years outside the list. The periodical chooses the best football players of the year.
She occupies position number 27. In 2024, Marta won an NWSL title with Orlando Pride and was a silver medalist at Paris 2024. The biggest star in women’s football announced her retirement from the Brazilian National Team after the Olympics.
Since 2021, Marta has not appeared in the newspaper’s Top 100. Aitana Bonmatí, from Barcelona, came first in the ranking.
She recently won FIFA’s “Marta Award” for the most beautiful goal in women’s football.
Former Corinthians player Gabi Portilho is in 60th position and is the last Brazilian to appear in the English newspaper’s survey. Voting is done by journalists, coaches and former players.
