One of the three deputies who voted against the constitutional amendment that is part of the Lula government’s spending cut package, Rui Falcão (SP) says that he made this decision because the measures, even if dehydrated, mean a reduction in rights.
He intends to repeat the attitude and vote against the bill that reduces the real earnings of the minimum wage.
“I have always known that the PT fights to maintain achievements and encourage the people to obtain new rights. Even with all the reservations, the so-called dehydration of the package, despite not taking away rights, you are reducing rights. The allowance will be lower , the minimum wage will be lower, the values will decrease”, he says.
Falcão was joined in dissent by PT members Marcon (RS) and Natália Bonavides (RN), but his opinion has greater weight, as he was already national president of the PT and has personal proximity to Lula.
The deputy says he did not inform the president or the Minister of Finance about his intention to vote against. “They [Lula e Haddad] They didn’t consult me about the package, why should I let them know? I notified the bench. My relationship is not one of vassalage”, he declared.
He also says that the party did not close the issue on support for the package, giving the right to parliamentarians who wanted to be against it.
Another argument used by Falcão is that he would not sacrifice rights when the market clearly does not think the package is sufficient, as is clear from the surge in the dollar. “Not even the market thinks it will solve it,” he says.
Furthermore, he recalls that other fundamental points, such as the limitation on salary gains above the ceiling, were postponed by Congress.
