The mayor of , , met this Wednesday (18) with the group of councilors from his party, , to discuss the fight with the president of the City Council,
The current president, who did not run for re-election, seeks to succeed Silvão Leite (União Brasil), his former advisor, who was elected for his first term.
The attempt displeases Nunes, however, who wants someone more experienced and less connected to Leite. The mayor prefers Ricardo Teixeira, also from União Brasil.
In the conversation, held at the city hall, Nunes and the bench reaffirmed their commitment to supporting a Union councilor to head the House, but said they would not accept any name from the party.
One vetoed alternative is Rubinho Nunes, who supported Pablo Marçal (PRTB) in the election. If this is the name of União, Nunes’ allies could even launch their own candidate. The name mentioned in the conversation was that of Emedebista councilor Sidney Cruz.
