
The Portuguese Association of Betting and Online Games will move forward with the biggest criminal complaint ever for advertising illegal gaming operators, targeting several figures who became known on reality television shows.
There are 17 influencers targeted in the complaint from the Portuguese Association of Betting and Online Games (APAJO), including well-known figures to the general public such as Bernardina Brito, Fanny Rodrigues, Rui Pedro Figueiredo, Isabela Cardinali, Jéssica Antunes and Ruben Silvestre who have appeared on TVI reality shows such as ““ .
Rádio Renascença had access to this list, with the president of APAJO, Ricardo Domingues, noting that it is the biggest criminal complaint ever presented in Portugal, due to the promotion of gaming sites that are not licensed.
“It’s a pandemic”
“The number of influencers normalizing this behavior play on illegal websites it is getting bigger and, therefore, it is a pandemic”, laments Ricardo Domingues in .
The head of APAJO accuses these influencers of sending consumers to “a market where there are no rules“.
“Many of these influencers even present the game as a way to generate income, which is absolutely absurd“, he notes, considering that “gaming is a form of entertainment”.
They are concerned that they can be accessed by minors that “are easily deceived for a lifestyle of these influencers that, in many cases, does not even correspond to reality”, adds Ricardo Domingues.
They harm the State by millions of euros. The president of APAJO speaks of a value of an “order of magnitude” around “270 million euros“.
