Report shows that the last 2 years of President Joe Biden’s government recorded 271,484 deportations
(Acronym in English for, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement) deported 271,484 immigrants from October 2023 to September 2024. This is according to the annual report released by the department on Thursday (Dec 19, 2024).
The data shows that the last 2 years of the government of US President Joe Biden (Democrat), recorded the highest number of deportations of undocumented people since 2015, with a focus on individuals who represented greater risks to public and national security. According to the document, the majority of deportations are of people who illegally crossed the US border with Mexico. Additionally, the department returned people to 200 different countries and arrested an additional 113 immigrants, 32.7% of whom had criminal records.
In partnership with (acronym in English for, Homeland Security Investigation) in 2024, the agency also identified 1,783 victims of child exploitation and assisted 818 victims of human trafficking.
Even though this is the highest number since 2015, President-elect Donald Trump (Republican) plans mass deportations. In addition, he intends to increase ICE’s resources, including expanding agents at the borders.
