Former Santos coach, Fábio Carille, was announced by Vasco last Thursday night (19), with the signing of a contract valid for one year. With the signing, Vasco achieves two of the club’s objectives, by finding a coach experienced in the national football scene and with stability in the teams he has played for.

Vasco’s main intention with its new coach was not to bring in someone who knew little about Brazilian football, and it is undeniable that the goal was achieved. At Santos, Fábio gained access back to Série A, the Série B title, and played 53 games, of which he won 30, drew 10 and lost 13.

The agreement with the Cruzmaltino club, negotiated by Carlos Amodeo and Marcelo Sant’ana with businessman Paulo Pitombeira, also includes the arrival of three more professionals. Along with Carille, assistant Leandro da Silva, Cuca, trainer César and analyst Denis Lupp will go to Vasco.

Carille arrives at Vasco to bring the defensive balance that the team has lacked in recent years, materialized in fourth place among the worst defenses in the entire Brasileirão this season.

Before Santos, Carille spent time at Corinthians (as interim and permanent), where he won the 2017 Brasileirão. From there, he played for Al-Wehda, Al-Ittihad (Saudi Arabia), V-Varen Nagasaki, (Japan), and Athletico -PR.
