Disappearance of Maïté at 86: the last news from the cook was not good…
With her southwest accent and her very gourmet recipes, Maïté has left her mark on the French audiovisual landscape. The restaurateur unfortunately died at the age of 86. It was the site actu.fr des Landes which reported the sad news. Maïté died on the night of Friday December 20 to Saturday December 21, we learned.
Maïté, a culinary icon
Marie-Thérèse Ordonez (maiden name Badet) was born on June 2, 1938. Maïté was an announcer for the SNCF – she alerted railway workers before a train arrived – before making cooking her profession . It was in 1983 that she was spotted by director Patrice Bellot during a report on the Rion-des-Landes rugby team. Maïté then cooked for the players. His television career began at that time with the show The Kitchen of the Musketeers alongside Micheline Banzet-Lawton. How can we forget the moment, which became cult, during its broadcast in 1992, when she knocked out an eel with a mortar pestle? The Kitchen of the Musketeers remained on the air for a long time, from 1983 to 1997.
Maïté was also a presenter on Sud Radio from 1997 to 1998 with the show Maïté’s recipes and participated in programs like It’s not rocket science. She also starred in a comedy in 2015, The Fabulous Destiny of Madame Petletdirected by Camille de Casabianca. A restaurateur at heart, Maïté opened her first restaurant in 1988 in Rion. It was there that she recorded her shows. The establishment ended up closing and Maïté opened a second one, At Maïté which was liquidated in April 2015. Maïté has of course also released many cookbooks.
Maïté suffering from a neurodegenerative disease
Maïté was married in 2020. A tragedy for the cooking enthusiast who had already lost her son Serge in 2013 who died of cancer. Maïté had two little girls, Perrine and in 2018.
The latter had given news of her grandmother a few months ago, indicating that despite the neudegenerative disease which affected her and her placement in a nursing home, she was taking full advantage of her retirement: “She is doing well, enjoying her retirement and her family. She no longer wants to answer interviews or do television, it’s no longer her thing.” she revealed.
