The senator and leader of the Opposition in the Senate, (PL-RN), stated in his on X (former Twitter) that the president’s government Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) “grants populist increases to promote itself, then goes back”.

As shown by the Poder360Lula said in June 2024 that he would not change the minimum wage adjustment calculation.
However, Congress approved the PL (bill) of the fiscal package to review public spending. The text was analyzed by the Chamber and the Senate and will be subject to presidential approval.
One of the points of the text sent by the government is the reduction in real earnings from the minimum wage to a maximum of 2.5% above inflation. The device changes the current rule, which anchors income growth to inflation readjustment and GDP (Gross Domestic Product) growth.
The new limit does not mean that remuneration will decrease from one year to the next. It will continue to increase, but at a lower level than in times of a booming economy.
