Dentil Praia Clube tried to resist, but ended up being defeated by the undefeated Tianjin Bohai Bank by 3 sets to 1, partials of 25/23, 25/21, 24/26 and 25/22, in the early hours of this Saturday (21), in Hangzhou, in China. It will be the first time that a Chinese team will compete in the women’s volleyball Club World Cup final.
With the result, the only Brazilian representative among the four best teams in the world will seek third place, at 4 am (Brasília time) this Sunday, against the team that loses the other match, between the Italians Conegliano and Vero Vôlei de Milano. The winner will compete in the final at 8:30 am.
As has been common in the competition, striker Yingying Li made the difference for the hosts and scored 32 points in the match. Russian Fetisova shone in blocking, contributing eight of a total of 17 points. North American Nia Reed was the highlight of the Minas Gerais team, with 23 points. Adenísia and Kuznetsova scored 12 points each.
Tianjin set the pace on the court from the start, thanks to a powerful serve and efficient blocking. With an advantage, the Chinese took a 7-3 lead and remained ahead throughout the period. The Brazilians reacted at the end of the set and reduced the difference to 22-21, but the home team managed to close at 25-23.
In the second set, Praia Clube returned to the match and took a 6-1 lead, but the Chinese blockade started working again, especially with the Russian Fetisova, and soon Tianjin took the lead 9-8. The Brazilians felt the blow and, with Difficulties in defense allowed Tianjin to take advantage and close at 25 to 21
The third set started evenly. With unusual mistakes until then, the Chinese team remained ahead, but Praia Clube took the lead at the end and won the set 26-24 – the first loan from Tianjin Bohai since the beginning of the championship
The Chinese returned more aggressive in the fourth half and soon opened up a five-point lead. The Brazilians balanced their actions and reached 11-10, but Li took command of Tianjin’s attack and led the team to a 3-1 victory, closing the set 25-22.
