Ukraine attacked the Russian city of Kazan with drones

The city is located in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, approximately 1000 kilometers from the front.

On Saturday morning, Ukraine attacked the city of Kazan in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, roughly 1,000 kilometers from the front, with drones. It damaged several residential buildings in the city, writes TASR according to the AP and DPA agencies referring to local authorities.

The press service of Tatar Governor Rustam Minnichanov reported that a total of eight drones attacked the city. Six of them hit residential buildings, one hit an industrial building and one was shot down over a river. According to the authorities, there were no casualties in the attacks.

They attacked in three waves

At Kazan airport, flights were briefly suspended and all mass events were canceled for Saturday and Sunday. The cities of Izhevsk and Saratov also temporarily suspended air traffic for security reasons. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the attacks on Kazan took place in three waves, coming from different directions.

On Friday, Ukraine also attacked the city of Ryľsk in Russia’s Kursk region, using missiles supplied by the US. Six people, including a child, were killed in this attack.

On the night of Saturday, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 113 drones, Ukrainian officials reported. According to the statement of the Ukrainian Air Force, 57 drones were shot down from this number, while the fate of another 56 is unknown. According to local authorities, eight people were injured in the attacks on the city of Kharkiv.
