Goalkeeper Gabriel Vasconcello will be another reinforcement for Vitória in 2025. Leão will pay R$1 million to Coritiba to sign the player permanently. He will arrive with a three-year contract. The information was initially released by Canal do Dinânico and confirmed to CORREIO by the red-black president, Fábio Mota.
The 32-year-old athlete spent the 2024 season on loan at Juventude, where he had good performances. In total, number 1 played 46 games, between the Campeonato Gaúcho, Copa do Brasil and Brasileirão.
Revealed at Cruzeiro’s base, Gabriel was an under-20 world champion with the Brazilian team in 2011, and a silver medalist at the London Olympics in 2012. The goalkeeper built a large part of his career in Italy, where he stayed for ten seasons. He arrived in the country in 2012, to play for Milan, and then played for Carpi, Napoli, Cagliari, Empoli, Perugia and Lecce.
In 2022, the archer was repatriated by Coritiba, when he played in 13 matches. The following year, he was on the field 47 times for Coxa and provided one assist. In 2024, he played just two duels for the club and moved to Juventude, where he stood out.
It is worth remembering that Vitória is looking for goalkeepers for next season. Muriel will not stay at the club, Yuri Sena was loaned to Guarani and Lucas Arcanjo remains in Fluminense’s sights. Leão also has Alexandre Fintelman, but the expectation is that the red-and-black will look for another reinforcement for the position.
In 2025, the team led by coach Thiago Carpini will compete in five competitions: Campeonato Baiano, Copa do Nordeste, Copa do Brasil, Brasileirão and Sul-Americana.
