Why do streaks form on your windows?

  • Several factors contribute to this and one of the most important is the wrong moment for this duty.
  • You should not wash windows when it is sunny, because water and cleaning agents evaporate quickly from heated windows, which leads to unsightly streaks.
  • Smudges can also be the result of using too much window cleaning fluid or cleaning agents that are not intended for this purpose.
  • Another reason why streaks remain on windows is dirty window frames. If you don’t clean them first, you will spread dirt over the entire surface of the glass.
  • The same thing happens if we use dirty cloths and squeegees, as well as coarse cloths that imprecisely catch dirt.
  • Unsightly marks can also be caused by the wrong way of cleaning windows, ie by wiping them in the wrong direction. This should always be done from top to bottom to avoid streaks and wet spots.

What can be done to prevent streaks from forming on the windows?

  • If you want to avoid streaks on the windows, wash them only on cloudy days using soft, absorbent and clean cloths and a squeegee that adapts well to the glass.
  • Always start the work by thoroughly cleaning the window frames so that you do not spread the dirt on them all over the glass.

Although we can use a regular window cleaning liquid to clean the windows, it does not always guarantee the expected results. Not everyone knows that instead we can use a completely different product that everyone already has at home. Interestingly, we can use… fabric softener. Although this idea may seem strange, it produces amazing results.

  • Windows polished with such a liquid are shiny, do not have a single smudge and – thanks to the antistatic effect of the liquid – dust does not settle on them for a long time.

How to use it to clean windows? It is important not to overdo the amount of fabric softener.

  1. Just combine 1 capful of this preparation with ¾ cup of lukewarm water.
  2. Pour the product prepared in this way into a spray bottle and use it in the same way as a regular window cleaning liquid.
  3. Polish the cleaned surface dry with a clean microfiber cloth.
