A 24-year-old man was arrested in Sintra on suspicion of “very serious physical attacks” on his stepson, a three-year-old baby, who is expected to suffer brain damage.
The case occurred in the Alto dos Moinhos area, in Queluz, in a “middle class familywithout any sign of violence”, as reported by (CM).
These are crimes of serious qualified physical integrity offenses and , as revealed by the Judiciary Police (PJ) in , where it talks about “very serious physical attacks”.
The stepfather, a man of 24 yearswas arrested and already presented to a judge at the Sintra Criminal Instruction Court, who ordered him to be preventive detention.
Baby may have brain damage
The child is admitted to the pediatric emergency department at Hospital Fernando Fonseca, in Amadora.
It is not life-threatening, but it should be lifelong brain damagenamely with “intellectual and physical impairments”, as found by the CM.
It was the mother who found his son deadtaking him to the emergency room, when he returned home after being away for “two/three days for health reasons of other family members”, as the CM notes.
He left his son who is hospitalized and another child with just a few months to live in the care of his 24-year-old partner, youngest baby’s fatherstill according to the same publication.
The complaint to the authorities was made at the hospital, when doctors realized that the boy had been beaten.
