Of this amount, R$49.8 million comes from the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS), and another R$45 million will come from the Climate Fund.
At the end of last month, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) financed by BNDES. The package includes projects such as InterCidades train between São Paulo and Campinas, the expansion of Metro Line 2-Greenthe northern section of the Ring Road and the acquisition of electric buses for the capital.
In total, R$2.5 billion will be allocated to the purchase of 1,300 nationally manufactured electric buses for the City of São Paulo.
In addition to São Paulo, the BNDES had already approved financing of R$380 million earlier this month for the city of Curitiba to purchase 54 electric buses. The resources also come from the Climate Fund.
The operation, according to the bank, takes place within the New Growth Acceleration Program (New PAC), in its investment axis “Sustainable and Resilient Cities – Sustainable Urban Mobility”. At the end of 2023, the New PAC opened a selection process for States and municipalities to send proposals for the acquisition of buses under Refrota.
Curitiba’s proposal was selected by the federal government.
