Brazil is elected to a new term in the UN peace committee

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this Saturday (Dec 21, 2024) that Brazil was elected for another term in the .

The election was by acclamation on December 19. The mandate will be valid for 2025 and 2026.

The committee was created in 2005, with the participation of Brazil, in order to coordinate international efforts to promote sustainable and lasting peace. Read the Itamaraty statement (PDF – 156 KB).

This year, Brazil held the presidency of the collegiate and defended the strengthening of the body to prevent international conflicts and consolidate peace in 2025.

Brazil has participated in the committee’s activities uninterruptedly since 2010.
