Andrea Illy has been concerned with climate change for a long time: as a student he was already building solar-powered cars in Switzerland. Today, the qualified chemist is the third generation to run the traditional coffee roaster Illycaffè, based in Trieste. The industry is facing existential challenges – half of the cultivated areas could be lost due to global warming.
