Therefore, it is worth knowing what to watch out for and how to care for the plant so that its branches are full of lush green and firm leaves.
There may be many reasons why our happiness tree is losing leaves. Even though it is quite a durable and easy-to-grow plant, certain care errors may contribute to the loss of Crassula leaves. Here are the most common reasons for this:
- Incorrect watering – please remember that the happiness tree is a succulent, so it has low water requirements. If we water the plant too intensively and it is located in heavy soil, the roots will be flooded. This will result in the leaves wrinkling and falling. In such a situation, it will be best to stop watering until the soil dries completely. On the other hand, you should also be careful about too long breaks in watering, especially in summer, because this leads to the leaves turning pale, losing their firmness and ultimately falling.
- Pot too tight – dropping leaves in a crassula plant is often a sign that the plant is too small, which we can recognize by the roots coming out through the holes in the container. Then the plant should be transplanted into a larger pot. However, remember to carefully untangle its roots before planting it in a new substrate. After planting, water the plant immediately.
- Natural aging plants – it also happens that the shedding of leaves is not the result of any care error. When the side shoots of the happiness tree begin to get old, they become woody and naturally lose their leaves. We can prune aging twigs so that the plant begins to sprout new shoots.
