Lula demands solution on private sector payroll loans – 12/21/2024 – Panel

The president (PT) has been demanding the Ministries of Labor and Finance to find a solution on which the government is betting to replace the guaranteed credit with the (Service Time Guarantee Fund).

This was one of the minister’s (Labor) goals. However, banks resist giving up loans that use resources as collateral as they consider it safer. There is also fear in the Ministry of Finance of the impact on the credit market.

The proposal under study is that payroll loans are granted through a platform and that employees can contract credit directly with the bank, without the need for an agreement with the employer for negotiation to take place. The company would only be notified so that it can deduct the installments from the payroll.

Faced with resistance from banks and the team of Minister Fernando Haddad (Finance), the Ministry of Labor, but still, the negotiations did not progress.
