There are 7897 retired civil servants who receive pensions above 500 euros, an increase of 160% compared to 2022 figures. Of these, 410 receive more than 8000 euros per month.
The number of former public servants with pensions above 5000 euros recorded a significant increase in the last two years. According to provisional data from Caixa Geral de Aposentações (CGA), in 2024, 7897 former State employees will receive pensions above this value, a 160% growth compared to the 3062 registered in 2022. Of this total, 410 beneficiaries earn more than 8000 euros per month, according to .
In Social Security (SS), there are 1909 pensions above 6111 euros, of which 31 exceed 15 thousand euros. The CGA, in turn, recorded a slight drop in the number of new high pensions in 2024, with 2107 granted, compared to 2728 in the previous year.
The aging of the population and the increase in retirements are identified as the main causes of this trend. Among the beneficiaries of higher pensions are public figures such as José Gomes Correia (8120 euros), Lucília Gago (7170 euros), Manuel Teixeira Rolo (6442 euros) and Anabela Rodrigues (5503 euros).
Professions such as judges, prosecutors, doctors, university professors and senior positions in the Armed Forces stand out among retirees with pensions above 5000 euros.
Despite the increase in higher pensions, the Social Security scenario continues to be marked by low values for most. More than 1.27 million beneficiaries receive between R$319 and R$763, with 911 thousand having pensions between R$319 and R$509.
Another notable point is the delay in publishing reports: CGA data for 2023 and Social Security data for 2022 were only released in 2024.
