The defense of former Army major Ailton Gonçalves Moraes Barros asked the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to return the items seized by the Federal Police (PF) in the investigation into the attempted coup d’état.
Minister Alexandre de Moraes asked the PF to comment on the need to maintain the seized assets. After the investigators’ position, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) must also give its opinion on the request.

In the final report, the PF says that Ailton Barros is “a member of the nucleus responsible for inciting military members to join the coup d’état and spreading personal attacks on military personnel who did not adhere to the criminal organization’s plans.”
According to the document, the former soldier acted under orders from General Walter Braga Netto to attack commanders of the Armed Forces who did not want to join the coup.
Braga Netto was arrested on December 14 for obstructing investigations. He complies with the measure in Rio de Janeiro and changed defense lawyers.
Before being arrested, Braga Netto also asked to recover items that were seized by the PF. In the first half of this year, the soldier’s then defense lawyers asked for the return of passports, weapons and ammunition. The items were seized in Operation Time of Truth, on February 8.
